About the Club

Sterling Ski Club was founded in 1937 by a group of six enthusiastic skiers at the Sterling House Community Center in Stratford, Connecticut. You can read the complete history of our club on the Club History page.

Our Mission

 Promote the sport of skiing by:
  • Encouraging participation in and enjoyment of snow sports and other outdoor activities.
  • Increasing the awareness of four-season sports.
  • Making snow sports and other outdoor activities affordable to all club members.
  • Becoming the premier outdoor sporting organization in Southern Connecticut.

Sterling Ski Club is a family-friendly ski and sports club, located in Stratford, Connecticut. See the Club Calendar for meeting locations and times. The club was founded in 1937 and now has approximately 500 members. One of the founding ski clubs in Connecticut, Sterling Ski Club has events throughout the year, culminating in a banquet in May. The meetings often have special events or guest speakers and are open to both members and prospective members.
 
WHAT YOU GET WITH YOUR MEMBERSHIP
 
  • Sterling owns two lodges in Vermont. Members and guests can enjoy lodging throughout the year. The Southern Vermont Lodge is in West Dover, VT and sleeps up to 27 people. It is 1/2 mile from Mt Snow and under an hour drive to most of southern Vermont’s premier ski areas such as Okemo, Bromley, Stratton, and Killington. The Sugarbush Lodge located slope-side at Sugarbush North, located in Fayston, VT, sleeps 21 people. It is minutes from Sugarbush South, Mad River Glen, and Stowe. Both lodges feature bedrooms with either full beds and/or bunk beds, and shared bathrooms. Both have comfortable living and dining areas with full kitchens, fireplaces, wireless internet access, and a friendly place to relax after skiing for members, their families, and guests.

  • Membership in the Connecticut Ski Council (CSC) which may offer discounted ski lift tickets, as well as social activities. 

  • Ski Trips including day bus trips, weekend and weekly trips via the Connecticut Ski Council.
 
  • Sterling Ski Race Program is open to Adults 18 and over via the Connecticut Ski Council.
